|About the Book|
In May of 1863, the third year of the Civil war, twenty four guerilla Confederate Cavalry officers left the Confederate lines in Missouri and entered the Cherokee Neutral Lands in Kansas territory on a top secert covert mission to create a western Kansas front. If successful, it could force the Union to pull thousands of troops from the east and give General Lee much needed relief. Four days after leaving Missouri, only two survivors of that mission, bleeding, battered, unarmed, no horses, and completely exhausted, managed to return to Confederate lines in Missouri. The author has one of the survivors, Col. Lewis, in first person, tell how the mission went so terribly wrong.
